Horizon House is a halfway house that provides a 90-day specialized treatment program for adult women who are struggling with effectively managing their addiction and who need more structured treatment.   

 

Horizon House has a safe and nurturing home-like environment where women can learn long-term recovery skills.

 

What services does the Horizon House program offer?

 

  • Group and individual recovery counseling

  • Specialized counseling for residents with a history of abuse or trauma

  • Group counseling for residents and their family members

  • Individualized case management to assist residents in linking with other needed services

  • Involvement in self-support recovery activities, such as AA and/or NA

  • Transportation assistance to and from other needed services

  • A structured daily schedule to promote recovery from addiction

  • Culturally competent, diversity-affirming, and gender-specific services for women

 

Who is eligible?

Adult women who have been assessed and found to need a residential treatment program.  Residents of Portage County and women who are pregnant are given priority for admission.  Other admission criteria are discussed during the first appointment.

 

How long is the program?

Most residents complete the Horizon House program within 90 days, and then transition to a safe and sober living environment in the community.

 

What is the cost?

The program is funded through a Women's Special Services Grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services and the Portage County Mental Health & Recovery Board. When applicable, women are expected to contribute food stamps and a portion of their general assistance to help pay towards room and board at Horizon House.

 

Are children and other visitors allowed at Horizon House?

Children can visit at scheduled times during the week and can stay overnight on the weekends. There are scheduled visitation times during the week and on weekends for other visitors.
