Emergency Services

The Emergency Services department provides crisis and community services. Our staff of highly trained Crisis Intervention Specialists provide phone services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

 

Walk-in services are available during business hours Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-in services are closed on weekends and holidays. Appointments are not necessary for walk-in services.

Emergeny Services

988 Suicide Crisis Lifeline and Townhall II Helpline 330-678-4357 (HELP)

Our Helpline has been serving Portage County for more than 50 years. We are the designated ​helpline for the 988 Suicide Crisis Lifeline. 988 is a call or text line available 24/7.

Our trained Crisis Intervention Specialists are able to assist with:

  • Suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts and additional safety concerns.

  • Emotional distress or crisis processing for:

    • Sexual abuse/assault;

    • Drug and alcohol abuse;

    • Interpersonal violence;

    • General relationship concerns;

    • Grief or loss; and

    • Any other issues causing emotional distress.

Incident Response Team and Critical Incident Stress Management Requests

We understand that having a team of counselors and socials workers able to assist when needed is essential to our community. The Incident Response Team and Critical Incident Stress Management Teams are made up of volunteer members from Townhall II, Portage County Mental Health & Recovery Board, Family and Community Services, Coleman Professional Services and Child and Adolescent Services. Community members and first responders can request the presence of these volunteers to provide services as needed. These teams will set up a designated location and time to meet.

We can provide resources within the community to help with any of these needed services, but we are unable to provide them ourselves.
