Adolescent Nicotine and E-Cig Education Program

This is a short-term, early intervention program that is designed to increase awareness and interrupt tobacco use by youth before it becomes a problem.  It covers basic tobacco education, electronic cigarette information, health risks and consequences associated with use, why individuals use tobacco, benefits of non-use, alternative behaviors, and skills/resources for quitting. Participants must register in advance. Course can be taken in person (classroom setting).

 

This program accepts referrals from parents, school principals and guidance counselors, other school personnel, law enforcement officials, and the Portage County Juvenile Court.

Marijuana Education Program

This is a short-term, early intervention program that is designed to increase awareness and interrupt marijuana use by youth before it becomes a problem. It covers basic marijuana education and information, health risks and consequences associated with use, why individuals use marijuana, benefits of non-use, alternative behaviors and skills/resources for additional help. Participants must register in advance. Course can be taken in person (classroom setting).

This program accepts referrals from parents, school principals and guidance counselors, other school personnel, law enforcement officials, and the Portage County Juvenile Court. 

Too Good for Drugs/Too Good for Violence

This primary prevention, evidence based program consists of a framework of social and emotional skills that develops goal-setting, decision making and effective communication skills. Additionally, the Too Good program offers skills for addressing peer pressure, refusal skills, pro-social bonding, conflict resolution and media literacy.

 

This program is for K - 5th grade students as well as high school students; runs 10 weeks; there is no cost for schools.

 

Project Alert

This is a primary prevention, evidence based program designed to motivate pre-adolescents against drug use, teach pre-adolescents the skills and strategies needed to resist pro-drug pressures, and establish non-drug-using norms.

 

Program is for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students; runs 10 sessions; there is no cost for schools.
